Hyundai Tests Electric & Self-Driving Cars in Saudi Arabia

The South Korean automotive company “Hyundai Motor” signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saudi real estate development company “Red Sea Global” to establish a partnership in the field of future transportation solutions in KSA.

The two companies want to test hydrogen and electric cars in Saudi Arabia. They also want to provide self-driving automobiles and cutting-edge air transportation options. The aim is to encourage the use of green vehicles throughout Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the testing aims to assess the performance, adaptability, and reliability of electric and autonomous cars in Saudi Arabia’s unique conditions.

Notably, last year, Hyundai Motor announced a joint venture agreement with the Saudi Public Investment Fund. The agreement aimed to establish a complete assembly plant for its cars in King Abdullah Economic City. Additionally, the joint agreement unveiled concurrently with the “Saudi-Korean Business Forum,” aims to produce 50,000 automobiles a year. The assembly plant is anticipated to be finished by the following year. This will help develop the automotive sector in Saudi Arabia and create jobs locally.

One of the primary testing goals is to assess the autonomous driving capabilities of Hyundai vehicles. Self-driving cars have the potential to totally alter transportation by increasing safety, reducing traffic, and providing commuters with more comfort. Hyundai intends to refine and advance its autonomous driving technology by learning valuable lessons from these trials in Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is consistent with Saudi Arabia’s aspirational targets for cutting carbon emissions. It also moves towards a more environmentally friendly economy. Compared to conventional gasoline-powered cars, EVs are greener and more ecologically friendly as the globe moves towards renewable energy sources. Hyundai’s choice to test EVs in the Kingdom is a reflection of its dedication to aiding the nation’s efforts to combat climate change and promote environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

Hyundai and Saudi stakeholders have formed a strategic cooperation with the objective of promoting innovation and propelling economic progress. The Kingdom aims to have a diverse and technologically advanced economy. Hyundai’s experience in automotive technology means both sides will benefit from the advancement and introduction of electric and autonomous cars in Saudi Arabia.

Hyundai has been at the forefront of developing electric and autonomous driving technologies. The corporation’s introduction of state-of-the-art vehicles into the Saudi Arabian market highlights the growing importance of electric and self-driving cars in transforming transportation. This is accompanied by its commitment to environmental sustainability and advanced engineering.

Finally, the testing of electric and self-driving automobiles by Hyundai in KSA is a significant development in the field of transportation technology.
