King Faisal University Achieves Innovation Level in NDE Index
King Faisal University has achieved an innovation level in university ranking by obtaining a 100% score in all dimensions and criteria of the National Digital Education Index 2023. This comes in light of the university’s consecutive leaps at the local and global levels. It aims to be a model for leading smart universities in shaping the future of education.
Efforts for Digital Advancement
Dr. Mahna Al-Dulaimi, the Acting President of the University, affirmed that the university is sustainably working on enhancing the efficiency of procedures and operational processes in the digital infrastructure to meet the aspirations of wise leadership, aligning with the present and future of the Kingdom in the digital realm.
University Strategy Achievement
Dr. Fawaz Al-Saadi, Dean of E-Learning and Information Technology, elucidated that this achievement aligns with the university’s strategy aimed at developing digital education. This is achieved through providing digital services that fulfill national digital transformation directives.
The university was founded in 1975 by the Royal Decree No. H / 67 1395 in the eastern region of the country. In its first year, it leased buildings, and in subsequent years it used some prefabricated buildings for the colleges.
Expansion and Establishments
The first four scientific colleges established by the university were: The College of Agricultural and Food Sciences and the College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry at the main campus in Al Ahsa; and the College of Architecture and Planning and the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Dammam.
Further Development
In later years, Royal decree No. 7 / b / 11155 established the College of Education in 1981 and the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Planning in 1984, with approval from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Chairman of the Board of Higher Education. The King Fahd University Hospital, located in Khobar, serves as the teaching hospital, while a newer hospital is being constructed near the university’s main campus.
Specialized Divisions
In 1996, Royal decree No. 7 / b / 11155, with the consent of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Chairman of the Board of Higher Education, sought to separate dental and technical laboratories from the college of medicine in Dammam.
The University has also given special attention to conferences and symposia in scientific and cultural enrichment of knowledge. It has organised more than 66 local and global conferences and symposia.
Technological Advancements, Innovations
The University has witnessed many advances and innovations, especially in computer applications, to benefit from them at the administrative and academic levels. It includes the following regulations: automated information systems at the university level, students’ record system, system stores procurement, financial system and architectural designs. Finally, in terms of ranking, KFU has been ranked 22 in QS Ranking for Arab Region 2016.
