Honoring the Winners of the King Abdul-Aziz Quality Award
On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh region, sponsored the ceremony honoring the facilities that won the King Abdulaziz Quality Award in its fifth session.
The governor of the Riyadh region said in a press statement on this occasion: “I am, in fact, very happy that I attend this great occasion, which reflects experience and the accuracy of the honorary work that we all seek in the fields of distinction.”
He added, “What we heard today is a very useful thing, and I hope, God willing, that they will be successful in the good bids and that they are the best service for the good of the people and a country. I hope for them success and payment in all their deeds. This is an honor for me to represent this dear national occasion, and we look at it with appreciation because the award has proven its existence at a good level, and this undoubtedly has a great role at the level of the country and the citizen.”
The Governor of the Saudi Organization for Standardization, explained during the ceremony that the General Secretariat of the King Abdulaziz Award for Quality was keen to face the challenges posed by the Corona pandemic and to deal professionally during this session of the award.Taking a set of measures based on global practices in the field of evaluation and arbitration of the competing establishments helped a lot.
This indicates that the evaluation, arbitration teams and the competing establishments were able to finish all stages of the competition and field assessment to the announcement of the winners, despite the challenges posed by the Corona pandemic.
He mentioned that the number of advanced establishments in the fifth cycle reached (145) establishments, of which (66) firms completed most of the award requirements, and (27) firms won the award, with (11) government firms and (14) private firms, in addition to two non-governmental firms.
More than 66 evaluators participated in the evaluation teams, stressing that the award is concerned with supporting and enabling excellence and quality practices in the private sector, to raise the level of quality in the service and production areas in the Kingdom.
He pointed out that the fifth session witnessed the launch of the trainee evaluator program to give our youth the opportunity to experience and to participate in the practical evaluation stages, in addition to the participation of a number of girls in the country as accredited evaluators in accordance with the requirements of the national model for institutional excellence.
The former President of the American Quality Association, Dr. George Watson, stated that the King Abdul-Aziz Award for Quality is one of the pioneering prizes, referring to the pivotal role of the National Quality Awards in increasing productivity and economic performance.
Watson pointed out that the King Abdul-Aziz Prize has become a distinctive model and basis for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards development, by continuing its strategic direction to redefine its future.
In the bodies and institutions category, the General Organization for Social Insurance won the award and came at the gold level, while the Food and Drug Authority and the Communications and Information Technology Commission came in the silver level, and the Institute of Public Administration, the Supervision and Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Public Prosecution ranked bronze.
The Secretary-General of the King Abdulaziz Quality Award announced that King Faisal University and the Technical College of Madinah – Boys – won the award in the category of government higher education and at the bronze level. The King Abdullah Medical City in the Holy Capital won in the category of government health facilities at the gold level.
In the private sector, the International Medical Center won the award in the private health facilities category in the silver level, and the Riyadh Chamber won the silver level in the service facilities category, and also in the large service facilities category, the Mechanical Workshop Services Department – Saudi Aramco, the National Water Company, Computer Operations Department – Saudi Aramco, all of which came at the bronze level.
