Hamas Urges Pressure to Act on Israel’s Blockade

Hamas has called the international community to press on Israel to end its complete blockade on Gaza that began on March 2, according to Al-Arabiya.

“The international community is required to intervene immediately and exert the necessary pressure to end the unjust blockade imposed on our people in the Gaza Strip,” Hamas’s chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya said in a statement.

The statement came after the United Nations warned of unbearable humanitarian conditions and shortages of medicine and food.

“The humanitarian situation is now likely the worst it has been in the 18 months since the outbreak of hostilities,” said the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

On Thursday, the Palestinian Group announced its rejection of Israel’s latest truce proposal and urged the world to reach a “comprehensive” deal to end Gaza War.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the country would never allow the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

“Blocking this aid is one of the main pressure levers preventing Hamas from using it as a tool with the population,” Katz said in a statement.

According to the proposal, Israel wanted Hamas to disarm and release the 10 living hostages held by the group.

However, the group rejected the demand of disarmament.
