Hajj 2025: NCM Boosts Pilgrims Safety with Advanced Weather Network

Saudi Arabia’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has achieved complete atmospheric coverage of the holy sites during the Hajj 2025 season. This initiative significantly enhances field and technical operations, ensuring the safety of pilgrims while improving forecasting accuracy.

As part of its operational readiness plan, NCM deployed 16 automatic monitoring stations across Makkah and the holy sites. Additionally, two manned stations in Mina and Arafat further bolster this extensive network. This strategic deployment enables the issuance of 1,920 hourly weather bulletins, providing timely updates to all stakeholders.

Enhanced Observation Capabilities

NCM supports real-time observation capabilities through a mobile monitoring center. This center enhances the accuracy and reliability of weather data, ensuring that pilgrims receive the most current information available. In Madinah, the center activated six automated stations and a manned observatory at Madinah Airport.

Coverage in the region improves with a dedicated weather radar system. This system is complemented by three auxiliary radars located in Jeddah, Taif, and Yanbu. Together, these technologies allow for broader geographic data collection and significantly enhance forecast accuracy.

To support awareness efforts, NCM launched a specialized media and communication production center in Mina. This center produces weather updates and safety messages in multiple languages, effectively targeting both pilgrims and operational authorities. These communications utilize artificial intelligence and advanced imaging technologies to ensure clarity and accessibility.
