Governor of Jazan Inaugurates 9th Honey Festival
Governor of Jazan region Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz inaugurated on Friday evening the 9th Honey Festival in the Saudi Governorte of Al-Edabi, reported News 24.
Suleiman Al-Ghazwani, the Executive Director of the Honey Festival, explained to “News 24” that the 9th Honey Festival follows the end of the Sidr honey season.
Broad Participation
More than eighty entities from all the governorates of Jazan are participating in the exhibition.
Moreover, families who make various garments and traditional foods are taking part in the mellifluous event.
Mounting Progress in Beekeeping Sector
The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture which offers many training programs and various workshops to beekeepers is supervising the festival.
Al-Ghazwani pointed out the distinction of the Beekeepers’ Association corner in the region, which partnered with Saudi Aramco in 2023.
They trained more than 400 trainees and established a carpentry workshop, apiary, and honey queens.
The Executive Director unveiled a bright future for beekeeping and honey production. He also referred to upcoming partnerships to establish a quality laboratory and develop the hobby and profession of beekeeping in the region.
Hassan Al-Hazimi, Vice President of the Beekeepers Association in Jazan region, said that this highly-anticipated event is considered a festival for beekeepers.
He further expressed his happiness and honor as the Governor of Jazan inaugurated the event.
He highlighted the governor’s continuous support for the Beekeepers Association, and role in the developments in beekeeping and honey production.
The number of beekeepers in the region has increased, exceeding three thousand.
