Al Madinah Heritage Company Advances Dates Industry

Al Madinah Heritage Company (MHC), one of the companies of the Public Investment Fund specialized in dates, has signed an agreement with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones to acquire land in Medina to establish a specialized date factory, reported Maaal.

This was announced during the Industry and Local Content Madinah Forum. The deputy governor of Al Madinah region Prince Saud bin Khalid attended the forum.

CEO of Al Madinah Heritage Company Bandar Al-Qahtani stated that the agreement will start the company’s upcoming plan to establish a comprehensive date factory in Madinah.

“Work on constructing the factory will begin in the next three months after approving the required plans and specifications for this industry, using the latest global technologies. This will particularly develop the industry of Ajwa dates and dates in general, “added Al-Qahtani.

The Public Investment Fund had launched Al Madinah Heritage Company, specialized in dates, last September, aiming to increase the value of Ajwa dates and various other dates both locally and internationally.

New competitors in this industry and new date outlets locally and internationally will cause significant growth for Ajwa dates and other Saudi dates.

Volume of Dates Production and Value

Saudi Arabia produces more than 1.3 million tons of various dates in different regions, with 34 million productive palm trees spread over vast areas.

Saudi regions host more than 10 date festivals from July to September each year.

Ajwa dates are one of the most important types of dates in the world, due to their significant value among different types of dates. They are the only variety mentioned in the prophetic traditions and in several historical narrations. Ajwa dates are highly valued in the Islamic world due to prophetic narrations about them.

Ajwa dates, with their dark blackish red color, are of great nutritional value. They grow in one of the most mineral-rich soils, located amidst the lava fields of Medina. Therefore, it has various minerals and vitamins.

Al Madinah Heritage Company focuses on Ajwa and other Saudi dates. Therefore, it plans to open multiple sales outlets to market dates in different countries worldwide. This will help farmers sell their products through these outlets according to specific policies and mechanisms.
