Gaza Aid Flow Not Meeting Ceasefire Terms: AP Analysis

A recent analysis has shown that aid flow into the Gaza Strip is not meeting the terms of the US-brokered ceasefire agreement signed in October 2025 between Hamas and Israel.

Analyzing official figures from COGAT, the Israeli military body in charge of coordinating aid entry, The Associated Press (AP) concluded that aid deliveries are falling short of the specified amount in the ceasefire deal.

Aid Shortfall

The agreement calls for allowing 600 aid trucks to enter Gaza each day. However, in the period between October 12 and December 7, an average of only 459 trucks entered Gaza daily.

Moreover, around 18,000 trucks of food aid had entered Gaza in the same period, according to COGAT, which claimed that this figure accounted for 70% of all aid deliveries to the Strip since the ceasefire took effect.

The ceasefire terms required 33,600 aid trucks to enter Gaza by December 7, but COGAT estimates show the total stands at just over 25,700 trucks.

UN Figures

The UN and aid agencies have repeatedly pointed to a significant aid shortfall in Gaza, contrary to COGAT claims.

The UN’s online database shows that only 6,545 trucks, averaging about 113 trucks per day, were offloaded at Gaza crossings between the ceasefire and December 7.

Notably, these UN counts do not include aid delivered outside its network. Furthermore, a Hamas document provided to the AP on Saturday estimated the total aid trucks at 7,333.

Dire Situation

Earlier this week, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs warned that Israeli restrictions on aid are severely impeding recovery efforts in Gaza, stressing that Gaza is in “dire” need of additional humanitarian supplies.

“Needs far outpace the humanitarian community’s ability to respond, given persistent impediments,” the agency said in a report.

“These obstacles include insecurity, customs clearance challenges, delays and denials of cargo at the crossings, and limited routes available for transporting humanitarian supplies within Gaza,” it stated.
