GASTAT Reports 3.4% Growth in Real GDP for Q1 2025

The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has released its latest report on Saudi Arabia’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first quarter of 2025, showing a 3.4% year on year increase compared to Q1 2024.

This growth was largely fueled by a 4.9% expansion in non-oil activities and a 3.2% rise in government activities. In contrast, oil-related activities declined by 0.5% over the same period.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, real GDP grew by 1.1% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.

According to GASTAT, non-oil activities were the main drivers of annual GDP growth, contributing 2.8 percentage points. Government activities and net product taxes also supported growth, contributing 0.5 and 0.2 percentage points, respectively.

Most sectors experienced positive annual growth. Notably, the wholesale and retail trade, along with restaurants and hotels, recorded the strongest performance, posting an 8.4% annual growth rate and a 0.7% increase from the previous quarter.
