Five Detained in Israeli Raids in Syria’s Southern Quneitra

Israeli forces detained five people during operations in the southern countryside of Quneitra, marking the latest raid in a series of near-daily military campaign launched in December 2024, according to Arab News.

An Israeli force raided the village of Sayda Al-Hanout in southern Quneitra shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Then, the forces detained a young man before transferring him to the occupied Syrian Golan, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces also detained four people from the town of Jabata Al-Khashab in northern Quneitra countryside during an operation early Sunday.

Damascus has repeatedly accused Israel of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, which separated the warring forces in the aftermath of the 1967 war.

The Syrian government has called for Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied Golan Heights along with the UN-monitored demilitarized buffer zone, which came under Israeli control in December 2024 following the overthrow of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime.

Israeli, since seizing control of the area, has detained dozens of Syrians and set up checkpoints at strategic junctions and major roadways linking towns across southern Syria.
