A brand-new fitness experience has arrived in Riyadh, taking outdoor workouts to soaring new heights. GymNation has launched the World’s Highest Gym Class, marking a transformative leap in training routines.
The exceptional experience involves a 30-minute fitness class aboard a hot-air balloon, at a height of 2,200 feet above Saudi Arabia’s capital.
Running every Saturday throughout January, the class takes participants in a captivating tour above Riyadh, offering panoramic views of the city’s most prominent landmarks such as Kingdom Tower, Majdoul Tower, and Al Faisaliah Tower.
The energetic experience starts with a warm-up and stretching session on the ground before taking off. Then, participants engage in 30 minutes of full-body strength and conditioning class, using a mix of bodyweight and weights.
Inspired by the high altitude and Riyadh’s fresh air, the class uses playful exercise names. These include Cloud Crushers (Squats), Overhead Ascent (Overhead Press), Altitude Lunges (Lunges), Wing Spans (Lateral Raises), and Bicep Take-Offs (Bicep Curls).
Despite the extreme elevation, GymNation has prioritized rigorous safety protocols for its most exclusive class yet. With limited spots as well as a focus on operational excellence, participants can expect a smooth, secure experience throughout the entire session.
The World’s Highest Gym Class is not just about the view. It draws on altitude training principles developed with expert Aderito Manuel. By exercising in an environment with lower oxygen levels, the body is stimulated to increase its red blood cell and hemoglobin production.
As Manuel notes, this physiological shift optimizes oxygen transport to the muscles and accelerates recovery, potentially boosting calorie burn by up to 15%.
