Foxconn Interconnect Technology and Alrajhi Group launch Smart Mobility to drive Saudi EV charging market
Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (2317-TW), its subsidiary Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT, 6088-HK), and the Saleh Suleiman Al Rajhi & Sons Investment Company have officially launched their joint venture, Smart Mobility, at the “EV in Saudi” exhibition in Riyadh.
The move follows a partnership announcement in October 2024 witnessed by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, positioning the firm as a key player in Saudi Arabia’s rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) charging market.
Unveiling Voltaira EV Chargers
Smart Mobility unveiled its first product line of EV chargers under the Voltaira brand. The AC Anoles Series, certified by Saudi Arabia’s Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO), features exceptional heat-resistant technology and recently received Germany’s iF Design Award.
The Royal Series DC and AC chargers, tailored for Saudi market preferences, were also showcased at the event, combining high performance with sleek design.
Bernadett Török, Global Head of Brand Communication at Voltaira, emphasized the brand’s German engineering heritage and alignment with FIT’s ‘One Mobility’ strategy.
“We are honored to bring our solutions to the Middle East. Our integrated energy storage solutions, set to debut at The Smarter E Europe exhibition in Munich on 7 May, will leverage Saudi Arabia’s solar potential to accelerate its green transition,” she stated.
HH Prince Fahad bin Nawaf Al Saud, CEO of Smart Mobility, highlighted the venture’s strategic timing. “With FIT’s 30 years of global automotive expertise and Saudi Arabia advancing its energy transition and localization strategies, we are expecting over a 28% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in the domestic EV market by 2030, we are committed to advancing local manufacturing under the ‘Saudi Made’ initiative towards global competitiveness,” he said.
Local Manufacturing and Innovation
Louie Yeh, COO of Smart Mobility, noted the completion of residential and public charging product lines within the first year.
A localized Charging Platform Management System (CPMS) is also in development to enhance data analytics and user experience.
“Under the leadership of HH Prince Fahad, a pivotal figure in Saudi’s renewable energy transition, we are confident in growing with the market,” Yeh stated.
Government Support and Vision 2030
Mai Alzamil, CFO of the Saleh Suleiman Al Rajhi & Sons Investment Company, revealed that FIT had already been invited by government leadership to install Voltaira DC charging infrastructure at a key government facility, supported by local partner Turning Point Renewable Energy (TPRE).
“This collaboration reflects governmental trust in our technical capabilities and reinforces our commitment to Vision 2030 and shared social responsibility,” she said.
TPRE, Saudi Arabia’s leading home AC charger provider, will handle distribution, installation, and after-sales services.
Mohamed Aleraij, Smart Mobility Board Director, stressed the partnership’s role in accelerating market penetration: “TPRE’s local expertise and resources ensure swift, efficient service delivery nationwide which enhances the overall user experience.”
This joint venture strengthens Smart Mobility’s foothold in Saudi Arabia’s EV charging sector, aligning with the Kingdom’s push for energy transition and domestic manufacturing.
By building a user-centric high-efficiency charging network, the partnership aims to advance sustainable transportation under Vision 2030.
