EUROPE DIVIDED OVER ASTRAZENECA VACCINE

While 13 countries, including Germany, France, Spain and Italy have said they are awaiting an investigation by the EU’s regulator into the reports of clots in a small number of recipients, Poland and Belgium are continuing its use.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA), which will release the findings on Thursday, quite confidently said on Tuesday that it was still “firmly convinced” of the benefits of the AstraZeneca drug.

As per Emer Cooke, head of EMA, blood clots highlighted by some countries were relatively common in the general population and stressed the fact that there is no indication that vaccination has caused these conditions.
