The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) reported that visitor numbers to events in the second quarter of this year surpassed 16 million, a 130% increase from 7 million in the same period last year.
The total number of licenses reached 1,529, an increase of 7.3% compared to the second quarter of last year, 2023, where the total number of issued licenses was 1,425.
The largest number of licenses were issued for live performances in restaurants and cafes, with 523 licenses, followed by entertainment events with 433 licenses, then entertainment shows with 322 licenses, 93 licenses for amusement parks, and 60 licenses for crowd management and organization.
In its report for the second quarter, the authority indicated that the number of licensed entertainment destinations reached 97 in the second quarter.
In terms of monitoring, the number of field visits in 2024 increased by 301% compared to the second quarter of 2023. The number of visits was 5,200. Moreover, the number of visits in the second quarter of 2024 reached 20,880 field visits.

The authority issues licenses for entertainment centers, facilities, ticket sales, talent management, crowd management, and entertainment events, including shows, live performances, and amusement parks.
