Emir of Qassim Region Visits Sukhaybarat Mine

Prince Faisal bin Saud, Emir of Qassim region, visited the Sukhaybarat mine.   During the visit, the company made a brief statement on the efforts made in the mining and mineral exploration sector in the region.

Emir of Qassim also listened to explanation from Vice President of the Basic Metals and New Metals Unit, Duncan Bradford. In addition, Prince Faisal watched part of the mining operations taking place in the Sukhaybarat mine. Furthermore, it encouraged them to enhance the capabilities of the mining sector and expand investment horizons in the region.

During the visit, Emir of Qassim region described how important is the mining sector as the third pillar of national industry. He also stressed out that mining receives care and attention of the wise leadership. This included  strategic initiatives that have contributed to the development of the sector.

Sukhaybarat Mine

Sukhaybarat Mine is a gold mine located in the central region of Saudi Arabia. Ma’aden, a Saudi Arabian mining company owned it. The mine is one of the oldest in the country and has been in operation since 2001.

The Sukhaybarat Mine is situated in the Al Qassim region, approximately 250 kilometers north of Riyadh. It is part of Ma’aden’s larger Sukhaybarat project. In addition, it included  processing plant and a tailings storage facility.

The mine has proven and probable reserves of over 1 million ounces of gold. It makes it one of the most significant gold mines in Saudi Arabia. In addition to gold, the Sukhaybarat Mine also produces silver as a by-product. The mine has a workforce of around 500 employees, including both Saudi nationals and expatriates.

The Sukhaybarat Mine plays a significant role in the Saudi Arabian mining industry. It contributes to the country’s economic development and diversification.Gold mining is an important sector in Saudi Arabia, with the country being one of the largest producers of gold in the Middle East.
