The Royal Commission for Riyadh City and the Ministry of Sports unveiled the future designs and visions for King Salman Stadium and its sports facilities, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
King Salman Stadium will be one of the largest sports stadiums in the world and the headquarters of the Saudi national team.
Strategic Location
Located in the north of Riyadh on King Salman Road, the stadium has a strategic location next to King Abdulaziz Park and very close to vital sites in the city such as King Khalid International Airport. Furthermore, it is linked to Riyadh Train Station and main roads, making it easy to reach from all parts of the city.
6 pioneering international companies participated and presented several ideas and designs for the stadium.
Consequently, the leadership has selected one of these designs that perfectly meets the requirements of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the standards of sustainability and architectural excellence.
Exceptional Designs
The designs and master plans were inspired by the “mountainous land” to complement with King Abdulaziz Park by linking it to the valley that runs through the park surrounding the stadium and the green spaces.
The stadium’s main architectural design contains green walls and roofs surpassing 96,500 square meters.
King Salman Stadium will be an outstanding global sports architectural icon hosting the most prestigious local and international entertainment events.
A Step inside the Stadium
The main stadium capacity is 92,000 seats, encompassing a royal box that accommodates 150 seats, 120 hospitality suites, 300 VIP seats, and 2,200 VIP seats.
Furthermore, the stadium contains sustainable cooling systems for the fans’ seats and the stadium floor.
The top of the stadium is fully surrounded by internally extended screens and several internal gardens and a walking path on the roof of the stadium offering a stunning view of King Abdulaziz Park.
Moreover, the stadium will boast:
- Two secondary training fields
- Fan areas
- Indoor gym
- Olympic swimming pool
- Athletics track
- Outdoor fields such as volleyball, basketball, and padel courts for practicing various sports activities
According to the master plans, the stadium is set to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2029.
