The “Chinese Film Nights” kicked off in Jeddah on December 3, bringing together diplomats and film and culture enthusiasts, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
This long-awaited event was organized by the Chinese Consulate General, the China Film Administration, as well as the Red Sea International Film Festival.
In his opening speech, Chinses Consul General in Jeddah, Wang Qimin, said that cinema serves as a cultural bridge that connects peoples and enhances cultural understanding.
Qimin also noted that hosting the “Chinese Film Nights” in Jeddah mirrors the increasing cultural cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China and comes at a time when the Saudi film sector is witnessing remarkable growth.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Chang Hua, underscored that the event stands as a testament to the shared commitment of Saudi Arabia and China to strengthening cultural exchange, as part of the Saudi-Chinese Cultural Year 2025 program.
Interestingly, the “Chinese Film Nights” has showcased a recent Chinese film that spotlights the richness and evolution of contemporary Chinese cinema.
The screening has captured wide turnout, mirroring strong public interest in China’s film industry and cultural heritage.
Concurrently, Saudi Film Commission is organizing the third edition of Saudi Film Nights for the second time in China, running until December 7.
The event is set to screen four Saudi feature films across three major cities: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chengdu.
Screenings will take place in China’s premier cinemas, known for their central locations and state-of-the-art technical facilities. Therefore, audiences can enjoy a fully immersive and amazing viewing experience.
