Boxing Championship Concludes in Eastern Region

Yesterday marked the conclusion of the Eastern Region Boxing Championship, reported Saudi Press Agency.

It lasted for three days at the Al-Taraji Club hall in Qatif, from Thursday, January 4, to Saturday, January 6, 2024.

The championship was organized by the Saudi Boxing Federation and featured 140 male and 30 female athletes representing 11 clubs and gymnasiums: Al-Taraji, Al-Khaleej, Al-Noor, Al-Ettifaq, Al-Huda, Al-Batin, Al-Sahel, Body Master, Al-Khobar Fighters, Al-Salam, and Al-Adala.

The championship included 116 matches over the three days for the participating age groups among both men and women.

Al-Taraji club ranked first with 20 gold medals, followed by Al-Khaleej club from Saihat with 13 gold medals, and Al-Noor in third place with 8 gold medals.

Day of Reckoning Boxing Event

Riyadh  hosted the “Day of Reckoning” boxing event, featuring some of the world’s most renowned boxing champions, according to Saudi Press Agency.

This event was part of the Riyadh Season 2023 activities and took place in the “Kingdom Arena”. The event featured matches between several boxing stars.

Match Lineup for “Day of Reckoning “

This year’s Riyadh Season saw several head-to-head matches between professional boxing champions.

These include British Anthony Joshua, Swedish Otto Wallin, New Zealander Joseph Parker, American Deontay Wilder, Croatian Filip Hrgovic, Australian Mark De Mori, Russian Dmitry Bivol, British Lyndon Arthur, Australian Jai Opetaia, British Ellis Zorro, Dagestani Arslanbek Makhmudov, Jet Kapaia, British Daniel Dubois, American Jarrell Miller, Cuban Frank Sanchez, and New Zealander Junior Fa.

‘Athletes’ Perspectives on Riyadh Event

Australian boxer Jai Opetaia, in a statement to ” Saudi Press Agency”, said that hosting the event in Riyadh was highly beneficial for elevating boxing.

He also expressed gratitude for being part of this event, highlighting its role in setting high standards for progress and work.

Lyndon Arthur from Britain also emphasized the impact of Riyadh hosting the matches. He noted its contribution to the advancement of boxing.

Moreover, Mark De Mori of Australia spoke about the efforts and financial capacity required to organize such events. He acknowledged his readiness for the competing in the event and his appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s investment in improving boxing.

Riyadh Season 2023: Diverse Array of Events

The fourth edition of Riyadh Season, under the “Big Time” slogan, showcased diverse events, entertainment, and global experiences.

Consequently, attracting global visitors, it presents artistic performances, exhibitions, and unique events. Additionally, these events feature renowned celebrities and brands.
