Bahrain-Saudi Council to Convene 3rd Committee Session

The Preparatory Committee for the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council met on Monday in Riyadh. They are preparing for the Council’s third meeting, set for Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Saudi Arabia.

It will be chaired by Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister of Bahrain, and his brother, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.

Bahrain’s Delegation

The Bahraini delegation is being led by Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs. It includes His Excellency Mr. Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and His Excellency Mr. Yusuf Abdullah Hamoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and National Economy.

Saudi Arabia’s Delegation

His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is being led by the Saudi delegation. It includes His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Al Jadaan, Minister of Finance, and His Excellency Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Said, Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers for Shura Council Affairs.

Opening Remarks

Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud opened the meeting on Monday, welcoming the Bahraini delegation. He highlighted the achievements and initiatives of specialized committees, boosting the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council’s work. Dr. Abdul Latif Al Zayani expressed gratitude for the warm reception and excellent preparations. He commended the historic relations between the two nations.

Bahrain’s Foreign Minister’s Remarks

His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs praised Saudi Arabia’s efforts to unite Arab and Islamic efforts. He acknowledged their support for the Palestinian cause, efforts to end the war in Gaza, and hosting Arab summits to strengthen international cooperation.

Meeting Agenda

The committee discussed preparations for the upcoming Coordination Council meeting. Topics for the agenda, agreements, memorandums of understanding to be signed, and new initiatives were reviewed.

Bahrain’s Expanded Delegation

Bahrain’s delegation also included His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Ambassador Talal Abdul Salam Al Ansari, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Ambassador Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Eid, and other accompanying officials.
