Arab Women’s Participation in Political Life is Societal Demand

The participation of Arab women in political life is an important societal and political demand. Today, activities of the virtual workshop held by the Arab Women Organization on “Involving those in charge of election administration in achieving gender equality” began.

During the activities, Dr. Fadia Kiwan, Director General of the Arab Women Organization, stressed the importance of women role in political life. She also stressed that enhancing women’s participation in political life in general and in the electoral process in particular as candidates and voters is a societal demand.

In addition, the workshop will discuss raising awareness of the importance of incorporating a gender equality perspective into election. 35 participants from members of the Arab Network for Electoral Administrations and representatives of electoral administrations in 12 Arab countries participate in the workshop.

Arab Women in Political Life

Arab women have made significant strides in political life in recent years. They broke barriers and challenged stereotypes in a traditionally male-dominated field. In addition, they took on leadership roles and advocating for change in their societies.

In Saudi Arabia, women have also made significant strides, following the lifting of the ban on female drivers in 2018. This step is considered a great advance towards gender equality in the kingdom.

Since then, women have been appointed to key government positions, such as the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the Ministry of Health. However, Arab women continue to push boundaries and challenge stereotypes, advocating for greater gender equality and representation in political life.

Through their activism and perseverance, they are paving the way for future generations of women to make their voices heard. Furthermore,  Arab women have made significant progress in political life in recent years. The impact Arab women voices make is huge, and no one can deny that.
