Red Sea Global (RSG), the Saudi developer behind the luxury tourist destinations AMAALA and The Red Sea, has announced significant progress in the development of AMAALA project.
The RSG, a company owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), has awarded billion-worth contracts to renowned global partners for the AMAALA project, as the new luxury destination is preparing to welcome its first guests in 2025.
AMAALA Contract Awards
In a press release, the RSG said it has awarded over 600 contracts on AMAALA worth SAR 23bn ($6.13bn) to global leading partners. These include Al Rawabi Hassan Allam, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, DEPA Group, in addition to Alec Engineering and Contracting, Havelock One and AL-AYUNI Investment and Contracting Company. The contract awards fall within the RSG efforts to develop the new luxury tourist destination.
The RSG said that these partners share its vision on establishing luxury and wellness destinations that align with responsible development practices and give priority to regenerative initiatives and collaboration with local communities.
Remarkable Milestones
The RSG highlighted the progress achieved in AMAALA development. On this occasion, Group CEO at Red Sea Global, John Pagano, said: “We have achieved remarkable progress across every aspect of AMAALA, from our signature resorts and immersive experiences to essential utilities and infrastructure.”

He added that the main focus of the RSG is on infusing sustainability and regenerative principles into every aspect of the project. “Once complete, AMAALA will present an extraordinary collection of assets and experiences that will elevate wellness, lifestyle, and human connection,” Pagano said.
AMAALA Project
AMAALA draws inspiration from the purity of the Red Sea. It aims to foster a deeper connection to nature, to self, and to community by creating a new coastal lifestyle, with wellness at its core. The luxury destination also aims to incorporate medical and integrative wellness, adventure, world-class art and transformative events.
It is one of Saudi Arabia’s mega projects under its transformative Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the Kingdom’s economy. AMAALA project covers 4,000 square kilometers along the Red Sea coast in northwestern Saudi Arabia. It is designed to be a year-round destination that offers a wide range of exciting activities for all visitors, including sea and sun, sports, arts and culture.
As the project prioritizes sustainability, it will operate on 100% solar energy and have a zero-carbon footprint by saving the equivalent of nearly half a million tons of CO2 emissions every year.
Upon its completion, AMAALA will have over 4,000 hotel rooms across 30 hotels, 1,200 luxury residential villas, apartments and homes, as well as high-end retail and food outlets, a yacht club, wellness, and recreational facilities.
Major Strides
According to the RSG, AMAALA has made remarkable progress in the project’s key sites, where construction is nearing completion in major structures. Work at Triple Bay Marina Village is nearing completion. The energetic destination will offer guests with boardwalks, waterfront restaurants, luxurious boutiques and brand stores, as well as a full calendar of entertainment events throughout the year.
Moreover, construction work is advancing in The Marina, where contracts have been awarded to complete the floating pontoons and fixed decks after finishing the flooding of the marina basin by the end of 2023.
Furthermore, concrete works are nearing completion at the AMAALA Yacht Club. Constructions are also ongoing in other sites, including the Corallium, Wellness Core, Triple Bay Central, and Ocean Golf Course.
The RSG said that work at the primary infrastructure, including 35km of internal roads, plus power, water, irrigation, and communications infrastructure, is close to completion, with activation planned in December 2024. The company also plans to plant 3 million trees before the end of the year.
Earlier this year, the Saudi Ministry of Health approved the design of AMAALA Hospital, which will provide healthcare services to residents and visitors of the luxury tourist destination.
