Fashion Commission Concludes “Building a Fashion Brand” with Fondazione Sozzani

The Fashion Commission has successfully concluded its five-day intensive program, Building a Fashion Brand, held at the Future Creative Residence (FCR) in Riyadh.

In a press release issued today, the Commission explained that the program was designed to empower ambitious Saudi talent and provide emerging designers with essential knowledge, strategic tools, and hands-on guidance to help them develop and launch their own fashion brands. The initiative was delivered in partnership with Fondazione Sozzani, an international institution dedicated to preserving culture, fostering creativity, and promoting sustainable fashion.

Throughout the week, participants explored the dynamic relationship between fashion, visual culture, and sustainability. The schedule featured lectures, workshops, one-on-one mentoring, and brand-building activities led by international experts.

The program was overseen by Sara Sozzani Maino, Creative Director of Fondazione Sozzani and one of the world’s leading advocates for responsible fashion—renowned for her work with Vogue Italia and Vogue Talents. She was joined by Riccardo Terzo, stylist, editor, creative director of DUST China, and a seasoned specialist in talent scouting and the history of fashion imagery.

Together, the two experts delivered an integrated curriculum covering brand identity, storytelling, visual language, portfolio building, responsible fashion practices, and the evolving landscape of global fashion culture.

Participants embarked on a continuous creative journey, learning to define both personal and brand identity, craft cohesive visual and written narratives, understand contemporary fashion imagery and communication, and adopt design approaches rooted in sustainability, responsibility, and professional ethics.

They also strengthened their ability to conduct research, develop strategies through moodboards, explore collaboration opportunities, and build holistic creative ecosystems. Individual mentoring sessions offered tailored guidance to refine each participant’s vision, strategy, and brand identity.

According to the release, participants’ perspectives were broadened further through documentary screenings, open discussions, and analytical studies of influential global brands such as Jacquemus and Wales Bonner, as well as the Fashion Revolution movement—deepening their awareness of contemporary international trends.

On the final day, participants presented their developed brand concepts before a panel of experts, showcasing identity statements, visual directions, and strategic foundations. The program concluded with an official ceremony at the Future Creative Residence, where participants received certificates of completion.

Building a Fashion Brand program

The Building a Fashion Brand program underscores the Fashion Commission’s commitment to empowering the next generation of Saudi designers, fostering global creative exchange, and advancing a sustainable fashion ecosystem that meets future needs within the Kingdom.

Moreover, through strategic partnerships with leading international institutions like Fondazione Sozzani, the Commission continues to develop specialized programs that support emerging talent and elevate Saudi Arabia’s fashion landscape.

In this spirit, the Sozzani Foundation is preparing to launch another program under the supervision of the Fashion Commission: Content Creation in Fashion, scheduled for December 15, 2025, in Milan. A selected group of Saudi designers will participate, including one designer nominated from the previous program to ensure continuity and deepen the skills they gained.
