
Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman co-chaired the fourth meeting of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council in Manama on Wednesday with Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. These crucial discussions directly followed the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, strongly affirming the deep-rooted ties uniting the two neighboring countries and their esteemed peoples.
Consequently, senior officials and committee heads from both sides attended the session, highlighting the strategic importance of this high-level bilateral coordination for the Gulf region.
Solidifying Strategic Partnership
Initially, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa warmly welcomed the Saudi Crown Prince, praising the robust relations and exceptionally close bonds consistently shared between the two Gulf nations. Subsequently, Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed his profound pleasure at visiting Bahrain and meeting both King Hamad and Crown Prince Salman, emphasizing King Salman’s unwavering commitment to strengthening cooperation across all foundational fields.
Following the official welcome, officials from Riyadh and Manama signed a significant series of nine comprehensive agreements and memoranda of understanding on the sidelines of the pivotal coordination meeting.
Key Economic and Technical MoUs
Crucially, the two Kingdoms solidified cooperation in highly sensitive sectors, demonstrating a commitment to advanced technical collaboration. For instance, Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and his Bahraini counterpart Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina signed a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding focusing on nuclear safety and radiation protection between their respective regulatory bodies.
Furthermore, to enhance commercial efficiency, Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih and Bahraini Minister of Finance Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa executed a landmark agreement for the avoidance of double taxation, significantly boosting future bilateral investment opportunities.
Other important deals covered sustainable development, competition promotion, railway education, diplomatic studies, and growth within the non-profit sector.
At the meeting’s conclusion, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and advancing their distinguished bilateral partnership, expressing hopes for continued security and prosperity in both nations. The two sides agreed to hold the fifth meeting of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council in Saudi Arabia, with the date to be determined by the council’s general secretariat.
