SAMI Honored With 3 Excellence Awards in Defense Localization

Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), the national defense and security champion and a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company, has received three Excellence Awards from the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI). The recognition highlights SAMI’s vital role in advancing defense localization and strengthening national capabilities.

The awards were presented during the Annual Military Industries Sector Gathering held in Riyadh, which brought together senior government officials, defense industry leaders, and investors from Saudi Arabia and abroad.

SAMI

The awards celebrated three SAMI subsidiaries—SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries, SAMI Advanced Electronics Company (SAMI-AEC), and SAMI Aerospace Mechanics—for their exceptional contributions to building a sustainable, competitive, and self-reliant defense ecosystem.

  • SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries received the Excellence Award in Military Industry Localization under the Service Providers category, recognizing its leadership in enhancing aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities within the Kingdom.
  • SAMI-AEC was honored in the Manufacturing Companies category for advancing national defense manufacturing and innovation.
  • SAMI Aerospace Mechanics was recognized in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) category for fostering localization and empowering specialized Saudi talent.

Through these recognitions, GAMI’s Excellence in Defense Localization Awards acknowledge organizations that demonstrate exceptional performance in line with Saudi Vision 2030, using transparent evaluation criteria overseen by a multi-agency committee.

Vision 2030 Goals

These achievements underscore SAMI’s central role in developing a self-sustaining defense ecosystem, empowering Saudi talent, and accelerating technology transfer and industrial localization. They also align with GAMI’s mission to localize more than 50% of military spending as part of Vision 2030.

During the event, Eng. Thamer Al Muhid, CEO of SAMI, announced the upcoming SAMI Local Content Program, set to launch in February 2026 during the World Defense Show in the Supply Chain Zone. The program aims to further drive localization, strengthen the defense supply chain, and advance the Kingdom’s industrial and technological capabilities.

Finally, the Annual Military Industries Sector Gathering continues to serve as a strategic platform uniting government entities, defense companies, and investors to foster collaboration and alignment across the national defense sector.
