The Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, met with the US President, Donald Trump, and other senior American officials, following Israel’s strike in Doha.
On Friday, Trump hosted Qatar’s Prime Minister for dinner in New York, alongside the US Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, reported Reuters.
“Great dinner with POTUS. Just ended!” the Qatari Deputy Chief of Mission, Hamad AlMuftah, posted on X.
The White House also confirmed the dinner without offering details.
Trump’s meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister came days after Israel targeted Hamas leadership in Doha on Tuesday, killing five group officials, including Khalil Al-Hayya’s son and the director of his office, in addition to a member of the Qatari security forces.
The attack has sparked global condemnation as a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and a threat to peace negotiations as Doha is a key mediator in Gaza ceasefire talks.
Trump said he was “very unhappy” about Israel’s strike in Doha, which risks derailing ceasefire talks and inflaming tensions in the region. Moreover, the US President tried to reassure Qatar that such attacks would not happen again on its soil.
Prior to Friday’s meeting, Sheikh Mohammed met with the US Vice President, JD Vance, and Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, at the White House, according to Qatar’s Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, Vance emphasized solidarity with Qatar, noting that diplomacy is a viable path to resolve outstanding issues in the region.
He also appreciated Qatar’s mediation efforts and its effective role in advancing peace in the region, stressing that Qatar is a reliable strategic ally of the US.
The Qatari Prime Minister, for his part, affirmed that Doha will take all measures to protect its security and safeguard its sovereignty in the face of the blatant Israeli attack.
