HUMAIN Chat: Saudi Arabia Launches Culturally-Aligned Arabic AI App

Saudi Arabia has launched HUMAIN Chat, a next-generation Arabic interactive AI app which targets more than 400 million Arabic speakers across the world, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The revolutionary app is developed by HUMAIN, an AI company wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, launched in May 2025 to develop Arabic large language models (LLMs) and consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for AI innovation.

The HUMAIN Chat is powered by the company’s pioneering Arabic LLM, ALLAM 34B, marking a major milestone toward developing a sovereign AI technology which is deeply rooted in the region’s cultural identity and ensures linguistic equity and global competitiveness.

Developed in Saudi Arabia by Saudi hands, the HUMAIN Chat will be first launched in the Kingdom, with plans to expand into the Middle East and the entire world soon. It is currently available on web, iOS, and Android.

The groundbreaking AI assistant is the result of the hard work of a dedicated team of over 120 AI specialists, including 35 PhD holders, with a 50/50 gender ratio, with contributions from elite international experts, marking a grand national achievement and a global offering.

ALLAM 34B: Revolutionary Arabic LLM

The flagship app targets over 400 million Arabic speakers and two billion Muslims around the world, who have felt excluded from the generative AI boom due to the lack of cultural nuance and linguistic depth.

By utilizing ALLAM 34B – the most advanced Arabic LLM built in the Arab world – HUMAIN Chat bridges a longstanding gap in digital inclusion and promotes linguistic equality, providing culturally-curated responses grounded in Arabia’s language, values, heritage and history. Now, users are able to create, learn, and connect in their own language, culture, and context.

HUMAIN’s ALLAM 34B builds on previous models developed by the National Center for AI, under the mandate of the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA). It has been independently verified by Cohere on MMLU as the world’s most advanced Arabic LLM built in the Arab world, with further improvement expected with consumer engagement after launch.

Despite being Arabic-first, ALLAM 34B is completely bilingual in English, trained on an exceptionally large Arabic dataset, and refined with input from 600+ domain experts and 250 evaluators. This has led to an unmatched fluency in Arabic and deep alignment with Islamic, Middle Eastern, and cultural nuance.

Unique Features

The Saudi signature AI app boasts a set of unique features designed for real-world use, with a focus on delivering the best Arabic-first AI solution for the entire region, and soon, the world. These features include:

  • Real-time web search for up-to-date information.
  • Arabic speech input in multiple dialects.
  • Seamless bilingual switching between Arabic and English during conversation.
  • Conversation sharing to collaborate and revisit old chats.
  • Full compliance with Saudi PDPL, with all data securely hosted on HUMAIN infrastructure within the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia: An Emerging AI Leader

Saudi Arabia has made significant strides towards regional and global leadership in AI and emerging technologies – one of the key objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The HUMAIN Chat is a further testament to the Kingdom’s dedication to cementing its status as an AI hub.

ALLAM 34B proves Saudi Arabia’s leadership in AI. The technology, built with local talent, IP, and infrastructure, shows the Kingdom’s ability to create world-class AI on its own terms.

On this occasion, the CEO of HUMAIN, Tareq Amin, said: “The launch of HUMAIN Chat is a point of pride for Saudi Arabia, marking a historic milestone in our mission to build sovereign AI that is both technically advanced and culturally authentic.

“We are proving that globally competitive technologies can be rooted in our own language, infrastructure, and values – built in Saudi Arabia by Saudi talent. This is not the end state, but the beginning of a journey to serve the Kingdom, the Arabic-speaking world, and beyond. The potential is limitless, accelerating innovation and progress across every dimension of commercial and social life.”
