Riyadh Metro has welcomed its 100 millionth passenger in under nine months since the project’s launch in early December 2024, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The project has become fully operational in January 2025. It consists of 6 key lines (blue, yellow, purple, red, green, and orange) covering 176 kilometers and connecting 85 metro stations, including 4 main stations: Qasr Al-Hokm District Station; King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) Metro Station; Western Metro Station; and STC Station.
“It made things so much easier for me,” the 100 millionth passenger said, describing his experience with the Riyadh Metro.

Since Riyadh Metro’s inauguration, the number of users of the Blue Line on the Olaya-Batha axis has reached about 46.5 million passengers, followed by the Red Line on King Abdullah Road with 17 million passengers. The Orange Line on Al-Madinah Road axis recorded 12 million, while the remaining three lines have collectively served around 24.5 million passengers.
Since it started operations, the Riyadh Metro, which is operated by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), has maintained a 99.78% on-time performance rate.
Qasr Al Hokm, KAFD, STC, and the National Museum interchange stations have been among the network’s busiest stations, accounting for more than 29% of total ridership.
The Riyadh Metro project is associated with a bus network designed to connect the capital’s districts with business and commercial centers, with a capacity of transporting over 500,000 passengers. It includes on-demand bus services and public transport parking facilities for a smooth and seamless commuting experience.
This integrated system boosts mobility across the city of Riyadh, providing multiple options that cater to the needs of residents and visitors alike, and further strengthening the role of public transport as a modern and sustainable urban option.
