Saudi Arabia’s Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission has launched the “Qari’e” digital platform in collaboration with the Authority for the Care of People with Disabilities (APD), according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The new platform offers easy and safe access to several books for visually impaired individuals, including the blind.
“Qari’e” perfectly aligns with Saudi Arabia’s vision of fostering cultural and intellectual inclusion and making knowledge accessible for all people.
Moreover, the initiative reflects the Kingdom’s dedication to the Marrakesh Treaty, which seeks to provide smooth access to books for persons with visual disabilities as well as those who have difficulties in reading printed materials.

Aligning with the Saudi Vision 2030, the platform contributes to the development of an integrated knowledge-based society that allows all people to learn and know.
Through a comprehensive design, the platform takes into consideration the needs of users such as screen readers and text magnification tools.
Apart from this, “Qari’e” also features high-quality content in numerous languages, along with comprehensive technical support and free subscriptions to local and international digital libraries.
Overall, the digital platform represents a qualitative leap in promoting and protecting the rights of people with disabilities and leading a more inclusive society where all people can thrive.
