Saudi Arabia Launches First Jazan Book Fair

As part of the Jazan Winter Season, Saudi Arabia’s Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission is currently organizing the first Jazan Book Fair, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Set to run until Feb. 17 at the Prince Sultan Cultural Center, the book fair represents an integral part of a promising program designed to spread the concept of book fairs across the Kingdom.

The event features major local, regional as well as Arab publishing houses, and a diverse cultural program.

It boasts various sections and pavilions, such as a children’s area with activities in writing, storytelling, theater and animation, alongside interactive and cultural events.

The fair will also hold over 250 events, for instance, lectures, seminars and workshops by Saudi and international experts.

Interestingly, the event has dedicated a special section for traditional crafts to celebrate the Year of Handicrafts.

By boosting knowledge and local publishing industry, the fair aligns with the Kingdom’s cultural movement and Vision 2030 goals, according to Commission CEO Abdullatif Al-Wasel.

Al-Wasel also underscored the commission’s dedication to displaying Jazan’s cultural heritage.

The fair opens daily from 11 a.m. to midnight, except on Fridays, when it opens from 2 p.m. to midnight.
