Saudi Arabia’s entertainment sector is set for significant expansion with the announcement of 29 new investment opportunities. The General Entertainment Authority (GEA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment, has launched these projects across various sectors. These opportunities are now available on the “Invest Saudi” platform for both local and international investors.
Diverse Projects Across the Kingdom
The investment opportunities span several cities in Saudi Arabia and include a variety of projects, such as:
- A mountain adventure park
- A general amusement park
- A water park
- A virtual reality-based entertainment park
- E-gaming centers
These initiatives aim to enable the private sector to play a pivotal role in enhancing entertainment options in the Kingdom. This aligns with the goals of economic diversification and sustainable development outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.
Significant Investments in the Kingdom
Saudi Arabia plans to invest $64 billion in the entertainment sector over the next decade, raising funds from both public and private sectors. This substantial investment is expected to create approximately 450,000 jobs by 2030, contributing 4.2% to the country’s GDP.
In August 2024, the GEA launched a digital platform through the Saudi Business Center to streamline processes for entrepreneurs and companies. This initiative aims to boost business activity and investment in the entertainment sector, facilitating access to key services such as licenses for facilities and talent management.
Aligning with Vision 2030
These developments are part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 plan to diversify the economy and invest in cultural sectors. The rapid growth of the entertainment sector aligns with Vision 2030’s goals to reduce the country’s reliance on crude oil revenues. The Kingdom has also hosted 26,000 events in the past five years, attracting over 75 million attendees.
