Saudi Arabia to Launch $12 Billion Water Projects in Next Three Years
The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) announced plans to launch 18 new water projects valued at SAR 45 billion ($12 billion) within the next three years.
Eight Projects Set for Award in Twelve Months
SWPC Chief Executive Engineer Khalid bin Zuwaid Al Quraishi confirmed that eight of these projects, worth SAR 30 billion, are expected to be awarded within the next 12 months. Al Quraishi added that these projects aim to generate returns ranging between 7% and 10%.
Workshop Aims to Boost Contractor Participation
Al Quraishi made the announcement during a workshop for the Contractors Incentive Initiative, organized by SWPC in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the National Center for Privatization. The event drew more than 100 companies and aimed to stimulate local contractors’ participation in future water projects.
Discussions on Partnerships and Contractor Development
The workshop focused on public-private partnerships, contractor qualification mechanisms, and the role of the Saudi Contractors Authority. It also reviewed successful water desalination and wastewater treatment projects, aiming to create a collaborative environment for future water development efforts.
Vision 2030 and Enhancing Competitiveness
Al Quraishi emphasized that these initiatives will boost local contractors’ competitiveness and create new investment opportunities. The initiative also aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, encouraging contractors to participate in privatization programs.
Due to the positive response, SWPC plans to host another workshop soon, focusing on specialized technical topics to further enhance contractor engagement.
