Somali PM Meets Supervisor General of KSrelief in Mogadishu

Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre met with Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah today, Sunday, in Somali Capital, Mogadishu.

Barre and Al Rabeeah discussed aspects of cooperation in humanitarian and relief efforts and ways to enhance them, reported Saudi Press Agency.

Al Rabeeah pointed out the Kingdom’s relief efforts provided through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, to the Somali People.

Furthermore, he thanked the Somali Government for all facilities that it provides to the center to perform its humanitarian work.

 

Saudi Aid to Somalia

 

Last year, KSrelief signed a joint agreement with the Norwegian Refugee Council to improve the living conditions of drought-affected in the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The agreement was represented by Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs at the Centre, and Mohamed Abdi, the Norwegian Refugee Council’s Country Director for Somalia, at the Centre’s headquarters in Riyadh.

Details of Humanitarian Initiative

Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Muallim initially detailed the plan to drill 20 artesian wells, each with electric pumps and solar power systems, in Somalia’s Mudug, Nugal, Bari, Sool, and Sanag regions. Moreover, each well will also have a high-rise tank and accessories.

Additionally, six water stations will be upgraded with solar systems and electric pumps. Consequently, this will benefit 130,000 people. Finally, the total cost of these efforts will be at $3.588 million.

Saudi Arabia’s Efforts in Somalia

This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief ), to improve the living conditions of the affected population in Somalia.
