King Salman’s Center Supports Gaza
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has taken a significant step in providing aid to the Gaza Strip. The centre contributed $15 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine refugees.
This substantial support is part of the first phase of UNRWA’s emergency humanitarian response plan.
It aims to provide crucial assistance to the population in Gaza under severe hardship.
Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza
The current situation in Gaza is dire. The conflict in the region has escalated sharply, leaving the entire population of approximately 2.2 million in desperate need. The majority of these individuals require food assistance.
Overcrowded shelters and hospitals are struggling with dwindling supplies of food and water.
The infrastructure for basic necessities like fuel and electricity has been significantly disrupted.
KSrelief’s Role, Contribution
KSrelief’s funding will support various critical needs, including food security, shelter, health supplies, water, and environmental sanitation.
This initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to stand by the Palestinian people during their humanitarian crisis.
Furthermore, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has also raised more than SR491 million ($131 million) for Palestinians in Gaza.
World Food Programme’s Involvement
The World Food Programme (WFP) has been actively involved in addressing the emergency in Gaza.
It has provided emergency food and cash assistance to over 700,000 people across Gaza and the West Bank.
WFP’s efforts include working with bakeries to provide bread to those in shelters.
Future Outlook
KSrelief and UNRWA are rapidly implementing relief plans in Gaza, focusing on critical needs.
The WFP is also scaling up its food aid, aiming to assist over one million people. This requires safe access and more donor support.
These joint efforts show a strong global commitment to Gaza’s urgent needs. Thanks to Saudi Arabia and other donors- there’s hope for easing Gaza’s severe challenges amidst conflicts.
