LEED
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) assesses buildings based on criteria including energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and the use of sustainable construction materials. The certification is intended to reduce environmental impact and improve the long-term performance of buildings.
The newly certified resorts are The Red Sea EDITION, InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, SLS The Red Sea, Four Seasons Resort and Residences The Red Sea, and Miraval The Red Sea. The properties incorporate renewable energy systems, energy-efficient engineering, environmentally responsible building materials, and technologies designed to improve environmental performance.
Kai Dieckmann, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort and Residences The Red Sea, said the certification reflects the resort’s commitment to integrating sustainability into the guest experience while supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and Red Sea Global’s environmental strategy.
Red Sea Global plans to open six additional resorts on Shura Island, all of which are in advanced stages of obtaining LEED certification this year. The expansion is expected to further strengthen The Red Sea’s position as a sustainable tourism destination while supporting Saudi Arabia’s efforts to develop a tourism sector with long-term environmental, social, and economic benefits.
