Turkiye Blasts Israeli Incursions into Southern Syria

Turkish Foreign Ministry on Monday condemned Israeli military operations and ammunition fire in southern Syria after the escalation near the Golan Heights had forced local residents to flee, according to Arab News.

“We strongly condemn the Israeli attacks against Quneitra and Daraa, which violate the territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty of Syria,” it said in a statement.

The ministry stated that such violent attacks threaten the lives and property of the Syrian people, exacerbate the humanitarian situation for civilians across the region, and constitute a flagrant violation of international law.

“We reiterate our call on the international community to fulfil its obligations and put an end to these attacks,” the ministry added.

On Sunday, the Israeli military said it had killed “several armed terrorists” a day earlier in southern Syria, where its forces have been stationed since late 2024.

Israel broadened its presence in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights in 2024 after seizing the United Nations-supervised demilitarized buffer zone.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry on Monday also condemned Israeli incursions and shelling.
