Arab Parliament Speaker Slams Israeli Knesset Bill on Palestinian Tax Revenues
Arab Parliament Speaker Mohamed Al-Yamahi denounced the Israeli Knesset’s approval of legislation expanding the seizure of Palestinian tax revenues, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.
Al-Yamahi described the bill as a violation of international law and signed agreements and a continuation of collective punishment against Palestinians.
He further noted that the ongoing withholding of Palestinian tax revenues directly breaches Palestinians’ economic rights and deliberately weakens the Palestinian Authority and its ability to meet its obligations.
Moreover, Al-Yamahi urged the international community, the UN Security Council, as well as regional and international parliaments to take immediate steps to pressure Israeli authorities to release Palestinian tax revenues immediately and unconditionally.
The official also called for efforts to hold Israel accountable for repeatedly violating the international law and international resolutions, and to suspend the Knesset’s participation in international parliamentary forums.
