Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, as the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil reaffirmed the Palestinian cause as the central priority for the Arab world, delivering a forceful statement to the Security Council on behalf of the Arab Group.
Alwasil called for a complete end to the Israeli occupation and the full realisation of Palestinians’ right to self-determination as prerequisites for a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the Middle East.
He also condemned recent Iranian attacks on several Gulf states and Jordan, describing them as violations of the principles of good neighbourliness, international law, and the UN Charter. “We stress the need to respect state sovereignty and avoid actions that threaten regional security and stability,” he said.
Condemnation of Israeli Actions and Call for Dialogue
Alwasil further condemned continued Israeli aggression against Lebanon, reaffirming Arab Group rejection of any violation of Lebanese sovereignty or targeting of its armed forces. Similarly, he denounced repeated Israeli incursions into Syrian territory, warning that such violations undermine Syria’s sovereignty and destabilise the wider region.
On the path forward, Alwasil stressed that political dialogue and mediation remain the most effective tools for resolving regional crises, emphasising that peaceful conflict resolution directly contributes to security, stability, and development for the peoples of the Middle East.
The statement reflects the Arab Group’s unified position that lasting regional peace depends on respect for international law, sovereign rights, and the full resolution of the Palestinian question.
