The National Museum of Saudi Arabia will celebrate International Museum Day 2026 with a three-day cultural program running from May 14 to 16. This year’s theme, set by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), “Museums Unite a Divided World,” highlights the museum’s ongoing dedication to accessibility, dialogue, and inclusive cultural engagement.
The program includes a variety of panel discussions, interactive workshops, and performances designed for visitors of all ages. In line with Saudi Arabia’s Year of Artificial Intelligence, the museum will introduce an AI-powered “Design Your Journey” feature, allowing visitors to customize their experience while exploring more than 3,000 archaeological and heritage artifacts.
Throughout the three days, a diverse group of academics, artists, and specialists will lead discussions on key cultural topics. These sessions will also examine how language and storytelling shape identity, the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on cultural understanding, and the role of physical spaces—such as museums—in fostering community connection.
Panel discussions will cover themes including living cultural heritage and language, traditional architecture and its influence on community identity, and the role of performing arts in passing cultural traditions across generations. A student-led debate titled “Which is More Justified?” will bring together university students to present contrasting perspectives on history and cultural narratives, encouraging audience participation and reflection. Additional workshops and interactive activities will also be available.

Admission to the museum’s permanent galleries and all International Museum Day events is free. Moreover, visitors are invited to participate in the program and explore how museums can inspire, connect, and strengthen communities.
