
Riyadh Region Mayor Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike held virtual talks on expanding cooperation in digital transformation and smart city development.
Saudi and Japanese officials joined the meeting, which focused on the use of digital technologies in urban management, including developments in smart cities, artificial intelligence and data-driven municipal services.

The discussions examined the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation, with both sides highlighting its role in improving public services, increasing the efficiency of city management and supporting sustainable urban development.
The two sides also explored ways to exchange technical expertise and adopt international best practices to modernize municipal services, improve quality of life and use advanced technologies to enhance city operations.

Prince Faisal and Koike stressed the importance of continued coordination between their teams and identifying new areas for cooperation to strengthen ties between Riyadh and Tokyo while promoting the exchange of expertise.
