“The Voice of Hind Rajab,” a powerful film based on a true story of a young Palestinian girl whose final moments unfolded under Israeli fire in Gaza, has secured a nomination for an Oscar in the Best International Feature Film category, according to Arab News.
Directed by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania and supported by Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Fund, the film recounts the tragic story of Hind Rajab Hamada, a young Palestinian girl who was fleeing Israeli military fire in Gaza City along with six relatives, when their car came under attack.
The tragedy deepened when the sole survivor of the Israeli attack on the family’s car was later shot and killed. Her haunting pleas to the Red Crescent rescue service, captured in desperate recordings, ignited widespread outrage against Israel’s brutal actions in Gaza during the two-year war.
“We’re proud to announce that Kaouther Ben Hania’s ‘The Voice of Hind Rajab,’ which was supported by the Red Sea Fund, has been nominated for Best International Feature Film at the 2026 Oscars,” the Red Sea Film Foundation said following the nomination announcement.
The film features a prestigious roster of executive producers, such as Joaquin Phoenix and Brad Pitt, as well as Oscar-winning directors Jonathan Glazer (“The Zone of Interest”) and Alfonso Cuarón (“Roma”).
“The nomination reflects the strength of the creative vision behind the film and the commitment of the team who brought it to life. We’re honored to have supported this work and to see it celebrated among the year’s most distinguished international films,” the Red Sea Film Foundation added.
