4DX DEBUTS IN RIYADH

In an agreement announced last month, South Korea’s CJ 4DPLEX will partner with Cinemacity, one of the Middle East’s leading cinema developers and operators, to open three 4DX locations in Saudi Arabia by the end of this year.
Al Qasr Mall, featuring 19 screens, will be the first multiplex in the Saudi capital, Riyadh and is expected to draw as many as 750,000 admissions during the first year of operation. The agreement provides for Cinemacity’s parent company, Xclusive Cinemas, to operate as many as 116 screens by the end of 2018 in Saudi Arabia and four other countries – the United Arab Emirates Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
Headquartered in Seoul with offices in Los Angeles and Beijing, South Korea’s CJ 4DPLEX is the world’s first 4D cinema company. 4D cinema technology provides an immersive experience allowing audiences to connect with movies through motion, vibration, water, wind, snow, lightning, scents, and other special effects that enhance the visuals on-screen. CJ 4DPLEX provides 4DX cinemas together with 4DX codes for major Hollywood films and local productions. Each auditorium incorporates motion-based seating synchronized with more than 20 different effects and optimized by a team of skilled editors, maximizing the feeling of immersion within the movie, beyond the limits of audio and video. Since 2009, more than 520 Hollywood films and
local productions have been screened in 4DX. As of April 2018, more than 61,000 4DX seats were operating in 500 cinemas in 59 countries.
