World No.1 Golfer to participate in the Saudi Aramco International Golf Championship 2023

World No. 1 New Zealander golfer “Lydia Ko” confirmed her participation in the Saudi Aramco Women’s International Golf Championship presented by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
The tournament will be held in the middle of next month from February 16 to 19, 2023 at the Royal Greens Stadium and Club in King Abdullah Economic City.
120 players
“Ko”, the holder of the title of the last edition of the tournament, is preparing to compete with 120 players from the elite names of the tour and world classifiers for a prize pool that is the largest in the history of the European Women’s Tour.
Prizes were presented in the amount of 5 million US dollars. This is equal to the total prizes of the Saudi International Men’s Championship presented by the Public Investment Fund.
The New Zealander is the youngest player to achieve first place in the world rankings, at the age of 17, in 2017.
Last month, Ko returned to the top of the world rankings, overtaking American Nellie Korda.
Ko won 3 LPGA Tour titles and finished in the top 5 in 9 tournaments in 2022.
“Ko” expressed her happiness to return to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the tournament.
“I am very happy to see the trend in golf towards equal prize pools for women and men, and I think all the players on the tour have worked hard to pursue this,” said Coe.
“I am grateful to all those who have supported women’s golf, believed in us, and committed to taking the sport to new heights. We are on the right track and I think things will only get better from here for women’s golf.”
Elite players
The Saudi Aramco International Women’s Championship, presented by the Public Investment Fund, is the third tournament on the 2023 calendar of the European Women’s Tour. It is the first to be held in KSA.
