Unified Front: Saudi Arabia Pledges Unwavering Support for Bahrain’s Sovereignty

Saudi Arabia on Sunday reaffirmed its full support for Bahrain’s sovereign security measures, as the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Bahrain’s security is integral to Saudi Arabia’s own security and the wider Gulf region.

Bahrain has intensified internal security after its air defenses intercepted 194 Iranian missiles and 523 drones before an 8 April ceasefire. Furthermore, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa directed authorities to revoke the citizenship of 69 individuals, including dependents, under Article 10(3) of Bahrain’s nationality law. Those targeted were accused of glorifying Iranian attacks, engaging in espionage, or maintaining ties with foreign groups linked to Tehran.

Additionally, Bahraini courts sentenced five people to life for plotting terrorist acts with Iran, as another 25 received prison terms of up to 10 years for supporting Iranian aggression. Meanwhile, 14 individuals face charges of spying for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). These charges include receiving funds, leaking state secrets, and undergoing military training.

Regional Solidarity

At a recent GCC summit in Jeddah, leaders underlined the importance of intensifying military integration and accelerating a joint early warning system against ballistic missiles. The GCC has united in support, with Saudi Arabia and the UAE emphasizing that Bahrain’s security is inseparable from regional stability. The UK also deployed short-range air defense systems to Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

Consequently, Saudi Arabia’s statement underscores the GCC’s collective approach to maintaining peace and stability.
