UAE Retail Giant Lulu Launches New Hypermarket in Mecca

UAE retail giant Lulu has opened a new hypermarket in Al Rusayfah, Mecca, with a spacious 72-square-metre exclusive dining area, according to Gulf News.

Located on Abdullah Areef St., Al Rusayfah District, the new store spans a total built-up area of around 200,000 square feet.

By opening this new hypermarket, Lulu now owns two stores in Mecca and one in Medina.

The launching ceremony highlighted the presence of Abdullah Hanif, the Secretary General of the Mecca Chamber along with Fahd Abdulrahman Al-Mutaz, Mayor of Russeifa.

Furthermore, Ashraf Ali MA, Executive Director of Lulu Group and Shehim Mohammed, Director of Lulu KSA, attended the ceremony.

“We continue to expand regionally in Saudi Arabia and the new store in Al Rusayfah generates more employment opportunities and strengthens the local economy,” Ashraf Ali MA said.

He also announced that Lulu will open more than 45 new stores across the GCC within three years.

“New projects also include three in the holy city of Medina alone amongst others,” he added.

Importantly, ADX-listed Lulu is currently undergoing a digital transformation to boost the customer experience both online and in-store.

In recent years, Lulu Group has been expanding its presence across Saudi Arabia. Such expansion strategy includes opening several hypermarkets, supermarkets, as well as potentially other retail formats in key cities and regions across the Kingdom.
