Iran has strongly condemned the US strikes on three of its nuclear sites, warning that the attacks will have “everlasting consequences.”
The US President, Donald Trump, announced that the US launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites early on Sunday, including Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan, threatening more military force if Iran attacked American interests in the region.
Iran’s Response
Following the US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, Iran’s top diplomat, Abbas Araghchi, denounced the “outrageous” attacks, warning of the “everlasting consequences” of what he called an “extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior.”
On a post on X, Araghchi said that the US has “committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations.” He also added that the strikes are “outrageous and will have everlasting consequences.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister noted that Iran “reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people,” in accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense.
Dangerous War
Echoing Araghchi’s remarks, the Iranian Foreign Ministry accused the US of launching a “dangerous war” on Iran amid ongoing diplomatic efforts, accusing the US of complicity with Israel in “designing and executing military aggression against Iran.”
In a statement published by Iran’s Tasnim news agency, the Foreign Ministry said: “The US military aggression against the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of a UN member state, carried out in criminal collaboration with the genocidal Zionist regime, once again demonstrates the depth of cruelty and depravity dominating US foreign policy.”
The Ministry also said that “it holds the warmongering and lawless US government fully responsible for the extremely dangerous consequences of this major crime,” stressing that “Iran reserves the right to defend itself with full force against US military aggression and the crimes committed” by its regime.
“The world must not forget that it was the United States, amid ongoing diplomatic efforts, that betrayed diplomacy, encouraged the lawless and genocidal Israeli regime to ignite conflict, and now, completing the Zionist regime’s illegal and criminal path, has launched a dangerous war against Iran’s core sovereignty,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.
US Strikes on Iran
Early on Sunday, Trump announced that the US carried out airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan, to eliminate Tehran’s nuclear threat.
“Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not. Future attacks would be far greater and a lot easier,” the US President said in a televised address.
The Fordo nuclear enrichment plant extends deep into a mountain. Thus, the US deployed its B-2 bombers to drop bunker-buster bombs – designed to penetrate deep below the surface before exploding – in its attack on the site, the Associated Press (AP) reported citing an American official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Furthermore, US submarines launched around 30 Tomahawk missiles as part of the attack, according to another US official quoted by AP.
Israel Under Iranian Missiles
Following the US attacks on Iran, a barrage of Iranian missiles struck northern and central Israel, injuring at least 16 people and causing “large-scale destruction” to several buildings, according to Israeli rescue service.
The Iranian state TV aired footage of the Khorramshahr-4 ballistic missile, saying the military used it in its Sunday barrage on Israel. The Khorramshahr-4 missile has a range of 2,000 kilometers and can carry a 1,500-kilogram warhead, possessing the heaviest payload of Iran’s ballistic missile fleet.
Shortly after the missile attack, Israel said its military “swiftly neutralized” the Iranian missile launchers that had initiated the attack, and that it had launched a wave of strikes against military targets in western Iran.
