In his first official visit to the United Arab Emirates, Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa held talks on Sunday with his Emirati Counterpart Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan at Abu Dhabi, according to Arab News.
Upon his arrival at Al-Bateen Airport, Al-Sharaa was welcomed by Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed and other senior officials.
During the bilateral talks, Al-Nahyan expressed his good wishes for Al-Sharaa to succeed in leading Syria and achieving the hopes of Syrian people.
The Emirati President also emphasized the UAE’s unwavering support for Syria’s efforts to rebuild its future and maintain stability, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
The talks also highlighted the presence of Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shibani.
In February, Syrian President visited Saudi Arabia and expressed his intensions to build strong ties with Arab and Western governments.
Such relations will unfold a new chapter for Syria’s diplomatic relations after the collapse of the Assad regime in December.
