Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jasem Al-Budaiwi stressed the council’s support for Syria’s efforts to maintain its stability and the security of its people, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Al-Budaiwi also affirmed the council’s stance in the final statement issued by the GCC Ministerial Council during its 163rd session, condemning all attempts and acts of violence aimed at destabilizing Syria.
During the meeting, the council stressed its support for the Syrian people noting the significance of ensuring the safety of civilians, achieving national reconciliation, and preserving the institutions of the Syrian state.
In addition, Al-Budaiwi noted the GCC’s firm stance against violence, terrorism, as well as criminal acts, regardless of their motives or justifications. He also expressed hope for peace, stability, and prosperity in Syria, while fulfilling the aspirations of the Syrian people.
