The Syrian Arab Republic officially launched a new national visual identity on Thursday, featuring a new emblem, during a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Damascus, according to SANA News Agency.
New Emblem
Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa labeled the new emblem as a reflection of “a united, indivisible Syria.”
The new design boasts the golden eagle, which symbolizes “strength, determination, speed, mastery, and innovation in performance,” Al-Sharaa said.
Moreover, it features three gold stars above the bird of prey to represent the “liberation of the people.”
Interestingly, the eagle’s tail consists of five feathers that represent the country’s main geographic regions − north, east, west, south and central – depicting Syrian unity.
As for the eagle’s wings, they include 14 feathers, representing Syria’s governorates.
“Syrian people … History tells us that the era of your decline has passed, the time of your rise has come, your blood was not shed in vain, your suffering was heard, your migration has ended, your prisons have been dissolved, and patience has brought you victory,” Al-Sharaa said at the ceremony.
Large Celebrations
The announcement witnessed wide celebrations as Syrians took to the streets in the capital and in provinces to celebrate the Syrian unity.
“Today’s celebration marks the identity of Syria and its people in their new historic phase,” Al-Sharaa added.
Al-Sharaa also gifted luxurious green velvet boxes containing the golden eagle emblem, a green T-shirt, a cap, as well as a pencil, to those attending the ceremony.
Overall, the new emblem is an integral part of a new political path coming after the fall of the previous regime in 2024, unleashing new horizons for Syrian unity, despite ongoing economic and political challenges.
