Social media personality Mubarak Al-Dosari, widely known as “Abu Basht,” has died, the Okaz newspaper reported on Saturday.
The cause of death has not yet been determined. News of his passing prompted an outpouring of tributes on social media, with users remembering his lighthearted humour and warm personality.
Family sources said funeral prayers will be held at a mosque in Riyadh, with a large turnout expected from admirers shocked by the news.
The platform X was flooded with condolences, effectively becoming a digital space of mourning as users recalled Al-Dosari’s character and kindness, saying his death leaves a clear gap in the online social scene.
Questions remain over the circumstances of his death. Circulating reports said Al-Dosari suffered a sudden health episode and was taken to hospital, where his condition deteriorated rapidly.
Al-Dosari, 40-year-old, was best known for his Snapchat series “Abu Basht Has a Story” and the “Hammer” podcast.
