SEHA Virtual Hospital: Saudi Arabia’s Transformative Healthcare Initiative
Saudi Arabia boasts a revolutionary healthcare initiative. SEHA Virtual Hospital is the largest of its kind in the world and the first in the Middle East, providing remote medical services to nearly 200 hospitals.
Harnessing the latest technologies, SEHA Virtual Hospital supports 170 hospitals across the Kingdom, offering healthcare services to all patients, including rare and complex medical cases.
Furthermore, it provides 29 basic specialized health services and employs over 150 male and female doctors, with a capacity of more than 480,000 patients annually, according to the Saudi Health Ministry.
It also offers 24/7 remote patient monitoring via the Internet of Things (IoT) devices. This ensures patients receive quality medical care without the burden of long-distance travel or waiting in lines, ensuring timely access to high-quality services for citizens and residents alike.
In recognition of its role as a pioneering model in delivering remote healthcare, the SEHA Virtual Hospital secured Guinness World Records as the world’s largest virtual healthcare provider during the Global Health Exhibition held in Riyadh in October 2024.
The new record marks a major milestone in Saudi Arabia’s efforts to enhance virtual healthcare quality and advance telemedicine technologies, in line with the Kingdom’s commitment to digital transformation in the health sector and the continuous improvement of patient care under Vision 2030.
Moreover, SEHA Virtual Hospital, alongside the Ministry of Health’s Innovation Empowerment Center, won the “Excellence in Virtual Healthcare Solutions Award” at the PX Initiative Awards 2025, during the International PX Congress in Riyadh.
The Kingdom’s focus on enhanced efficiency, improved patient outcomes, and digital modernization is an integral part of the Health Sector Transformation Program – a key component of Saudi Vision 2030 – which aims to boost the quality of life and increase life expectancy across Saudi Arabia.
